VCenter appliance 6.5  U1 has been released and which gives me the opportunity to update my lab's.  Update process is really simple with the Appliance  Management  Tool. If your Appliance  Server has connected to the Internet and can get packages over the internet, it will be easier then you imagine.

But at this step, we will explain the scenario that your Appliance Server has no communication with the Internet.

Step  1: Connect  your  Appliance  Management  Tool

Step 2: Login with  Root  Account

Step 3: Check Update status under the Update tab.

The first screenshot shows if you download the Zip file and start the update with Zip binaries. Second one shows if you directly connected to the internet and want to use the Vmware repository for the upgrade. The second option needs an internet connection.

At the first option, you need to download binaries at the VMware site.  If you will continue with the second  option then you don't need to download any packages. Just click the "Check for Update" button and wait until the package download finish.

Step 4: Download  Binaries

Check for  this  link to download  Zip file.
